WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Hawks scored the first four points with layups by Caitie Unger (Warwick, N.Y.) and Sareena DiCerbo (Schenectady, N.Y.).
- The Dragons worked their way back into the contest, holding Hartwick to just those four points across a five-minute stretch in the 1st quarter.
- However, a 3-pointer by Angelina Maselli (Burlington, Conn.) with 3:16 remaining in the opening quarter broke the drought.
- Hartwick ended the 1st quarter down 16-9.
- Oneonta continued to add to their lead, leading by ten at the 8:45 mark in the 2nd quarter.
- However, the Hawks would not go away and cut the Red Dragons' lead down to just five heading into the second half.
- Coming out of halftime, Hartwick began to find seams in the Oneonta defense picking up three straight layups including an and-one from Dicerbo to give Hartwick their second lead of the game at 31-30.
- The contest remained tight through the 3rd as the Hawks trailed the Red Dragons by two heading into the final 15 minutes of play.
- As soon as it looked like Oneonta would pull away, the home squad would respond right back, tying up the game at 40-all with just under five to play.
- Despite the Red Dragons going on to score 9 unanswered points, Hartwick rallied back with a jumper by Meghan Perry (Otego, N.Y.) and a three form Unger to get within four with 1:02 in the game.
- Unfortunately, the Hawks couldn't get any closer than that and ultimately fell 51-47 in the annual rivalry game.
- Hartwick spread out their score with DiCerbo leading the way with ten, while Unger, Maselli, Meghan Perry, and Isabella Astorino (Warwick, N.Y.) each added eight.
