WEBSTER, NY - The Hartwick Women and Men's Swimming and Diving programs completed their first day of the Allegheny-Empire Championship on Wednesday. The women currently sit in 4th place while the men are 3rd.
The Hartwick Women's Swimming and Diving team finds itself in 4th place out of 9 teams after the first day of the Allegheny Empire championship meet, scoring 86 points.
In the 200 medley relay, 'Wick placed 4th, with a team consisting of Bree Dy (Matawan, NJ/Bishop George AHR), Jacqueline Drown (Columbia, MO/Rock Bridge), Abby Miller (Oneonta, Ny/Oneonta), and Meghan Geczy (Queensbury, NY/Queensburg) with a time of 1:55.79.
The Hawks won the 800 freestyle relay in an exhilarating final, and were the only team under 8 minutes with a time of 7:58.99. The winning team consisted of Dy, Elizabeth Baird (Wilton, NY/Saratoga Springs), Joelle Ocheltree (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville), and Miller.
The Hartwick Men's Swimming and Diving team is in 3rd place out of 8 teams with 122 points after the first day of the Allegheny Empire championship meet.
In the 200 Medley relay, the B relay came in 14th place with a team consisting of Devin Masongsong (Pleasant Hill, CA College Park), Sebastian Knowles (Plano, TX/Plano West Senior), Justin Diamond (Morrisville, VT/Peoples Academy), and Evan Nezat (Jacksonville, NC/Jacksonville). The A relay came in 4th place, with Michael Schultz (Binghamton, NY Chenango Valley), Colin Leonard (Slingerlands, NY/Bethlehem), Dawson Tupponce (Phoenix, AZ/Desert Vista), and Diallo Marshall (Saint George, Antigua & Barbuda/St. Anthony's) coming in at 1:36.11.
Jack Armstrong (Windham, NH/Windham) placed third in 3 meter diving. In the 800 freestyle relay, the B relay placed 10th, with a team of Brady Haraden (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa), Leonard, Austin Clive (Roslyn NY/Roslyn), and Nic Canney (Chandler, AZ/Corona Del Sol). The A relay placed 4th, with Schultz, Reid Sinkinson (Telford, PA/Souderton Area), Tupponce, and Masongsong coming in at 7:10.05.
The Hawks begin Day 2 tomorrow at 10am with a prelims session, and a finals session starting at 5pm, with the 500 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 freestyle, and 200 freestyle relay events.
