WEBSTER, NY - After day 3 of the Swimming and Diving Allegheny-Empire Championships, the women's team has improved to 3rd place while the men remain in 5th. The events final day is tomorrow where the Hawks will look to move up in the standings.
The Hartwick Women's Swimming and Diving team is in 3rd place out of 10 teams after day 3 of the Allegheny Empire Championships with 458.5 points.
On the women's side, Hartwick started off strong with Abby Miller (Oneonta, Ny/Oneonta) claiming the silver in the 400 IM with a time of 4:49.42. Jacqueline Drown (Columbia, MO/Rock Bridge) came in 7th with a time of 5:00.22. In the 100 butterfly, Meghan Geczy (Queensbury, NY/Queensburg) came in 5th with a time of 1:05.94. Scout Easton (Evergreen, CO/Evergreen) came in 8th with a time of 1:06.92
In the 200 freestyle,
Elizabeth Baird (Wilton, NY/Saratoga Springs) came in 6th with a time of 2:00.62, and
Joelle Ocheltree (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville) came in 9th with a time of 2:01.41.
Paige Eaton (East Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) came in 6th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:10.10. Drown came in 7th with a time of 1:11.89.
Bree Dy (Matawan, NJ/Bishop George AHR) came in first place in the 100 backstroke, with a time of 1:00.62.
The B relay in the 400 medley relay came in 14th place, with a team consisting of Ocheltree, Drown, Easton, and Geczy. The A relay claimed the silver with Dy, Eaton, Miller, and Baird coming in at 4:09.25.
The Hartwick Men's Swimming and Diving team is in 5th place out of 9 teams after day 3 of the Allegheny Empire Championships with 515 points.
In the 400 IM,
Nic Canney (Chandler, AZ/Corona Del Sol) came in 6th place with a time of 4:26.19.
Colin Leonard (Slingerlands, NY/Bethlehem) came in 7th with a time of 4:27.03.
Michael Schultz (Binghamton, NY Chenango Valley) came in strong with a third place finish in the 100 butterfly with a 51.43.
Diallo Marshall (Saint George, Antigua & Barbuda/St. Anthony's) came in 5th with a time of 51.60.
Luis Martinez (Evanston, IL/Evanston) came in 18th with a time of 56.04, and
Justin Diamond (Morrisville, VT/Peoples Academy) came in 20th with a 56.33.
In the 200 freestyle,
Dawson Tupponce (Phoenix, AZ/Desert Vista) claimed the silver with a 1:44.08, and
Reid Sinkinson (Telford, PA/Souderton Area) came in 6th with a 1:47.46.
Austin Clive (Roslyn NY/Roslyn) came in 12th with a time of 1:50.40. In the 100 breaststroke, Leonard came in 4th place with a 59.93.
Evan Nezat (Jacksonville, NC/Jacksonville) came in 11th with a time of 1:01.34.
Devin Masongsong (Pleasant Hill, CA College Park) came in 13th with a time of 1:01.86, and
Sebastian Knowles (Plano, TX/Plano West Senior) came in 18th with a 1:03.96.
Sam Cole (Albany, NY/Guilderland) came in 19th with a 1:04.18.
In the 100 backstroke, Masongsong came in 11th with a 55.37, Diamond came in 16th with a 58.66.
Brady Haraden came in 17th with a time of 59.11, and Payton Humphries (South Glens Falls, NY/South Glen Falls) came in 19th with a 1:04.20. In the 400 medley relay, the B relay came in 15th, consisting of Masongsong, Nezat, Diamond, and Sinkinson. The A relay came in 3rd, with Schultz, Leonard, Tupponce, and Marshall coming in at 3:32.57.
The Hawks begin Day 4 tomorrow at 10am with a prelims session, and a finals session starting at 5pm, with the 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 1650 freestyle, and the 400 freestyle relay.
