ONEONTA, NY – The Women's Tennis team closed out their stellar 2021-22 campaign with a match at home against RIT this morning. Although the Hawks dropped the match 1-8, their 12-4 overall record sets the bar for the most wins by the Hawks in program history. The previous mark was 11, set by the 1993 and 1995 teams. This is the first double-digit winning season since 2004.
Hartwick's lone win came in 1
st singles, with Jade Killkelly winning 2-6, 7-5, 10-2.
Ryann Ashby took her 2
nd singles match to three games, ultimately falling 7-5, 1-6, 8-10. RIT took the other singles matches easily, allowing just 4 wins combined between the 3
rd-6
th singles. The doubles matches were also decided heavily for RIT, with 1
st and 3
rd winning 8-2 and 2
nd winning 8-0.
With just two graduating seniors, the future is bright for the Hawks team that finished as Empire 8 runners-up this season. Hartwick looks poised to make a run at the Championship and once again challenge the new win record set this year.
