Men’s Lacrosse Closes Out 2022 Season with Loss in Conference Semifinals

ROCHESTER, NY – The Men's Lacrosse team was on the road at the top seeded St. John Fisher Cardinals to play for the right to advance to the Conference Finals this weekend.  The Hawks were unable to take down the country's 5th ranked squad and closed out their season after the 3-23 loss.  Hartwick's 2022 year ended at 6-6 overall.

Although the Cardinals got on the board first, Hartwick evened the game just a minute later when Pete Conley got one past the goalkeeper.  Unfortunately, St. John Fisher took over the game from there, scoring the games next 21 while keeping Hartwick off the board until midway through the 4th quarter.  James Schneider scored off a pass from Shayne Kerrigan on a man-up opportunity for Hartwick's second goal of the afternoon.  Garrett Frost scored Hartwick's third and the game's final goal with 3:56 showing on the clock.  Jared Tiong-Smith made 22 saves in the game.

The trip to the Empire 8 semifinals is Hartwick's 4th in as many years, not counting the previous 2 spring seasons that were cut short or not played due to the pandemic.  In the other semifinal matchup, Nazareth defeated Alfred 27-3 to advance to the finals.
