ROCHESTER, NY - The Women's Lacrosse team was in Rochester this morning in the first Empire 8 semifinal of the day, facing off against the top-seeded Cardinals from St. John Fisher. The Hawks battled but were unable to overcome the hosts who took the 18-6 win to advance to the finals. Hartwick closes their 2022 campaign with a 6-7 overall record after their secnod consecutive trip to the post-season.
The hosts got on the board first, but Hartwick scored twice in a 1-minute span to take a one goal advantage halfway through the first quarter.

Katrina Marten to tie the game before
Hanna Goodreau connected on her goal from
Kristen Vaccarelli. The lead lasted just a minute as Fisher tied it up before taking the lead for good at the 5:18 mark in the first. Vaccarelli got in the scoring column before the quarter's final whistle, bringing the score to 5-3 after the first.
Unable to score in the second, Fisher broadened their lead to 6 goals heading into the half. Although Hartwick had 3 goals in the 3rd, the Cardinals didnt let up and scored 5 before scoring the only 4 in the final period.
Emily Madigan, Vaccarelli, and
Gabrielle Stringer scored the 3rd quarter goals for the Hawks, with Marten notching her second assist on Madigan's goal.
Kristen Vaccarelli finished with 2 goals, while
Gabrielle Stringer,
Hanna Goodreau,
Emily Madigan and
Emily Schaub each had 1.
Samantha Miller made 7 saves in net in the 60 minutes played.
