NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The Hartwick Hawks Women's Swimming and Diving team dropped their final regular season meet on the road at New Paltz on Saturday afternoon 156-106.
 
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
 
  • The Hawks 200-yard medley relay team of Bree Dy (Matawan, N.J.), Courtney Pierce (Fulton, N.Y.), Amanda Wilbur (Watkins Glen, N.Y.), and Avery Sommo (Slingerlands, N.Y.) collected four points for their second-place finish in the first event.
  • In the 1650-yard free, Joelle Ocheltree (Libertyville, Ill.) finished 53 seconds ahead of her closest competitor to pick up nine points.  Scout Easton (Evergreen, Colo.) finished third in the event to pick up three more points for the Hawks.
  • Hartwick continued to add to their point total as Ellie Baird (Wilton, N.Y.), Ocheltree, and Meghan Geczy (Queensbury, N.Y.) finished one, three, and four in the 200-yard free.
  • Dy and Sommo finished second and third in the 100-yard back for a total of seven points for the Hawks.
  • Pierce, Baird, and Dy picked up four points each, finishing second in the 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard free, and 200-yard backstroke respectively.
  • Pierce also finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke for another four points for the Hawks.
  • Ocheltree nabbed nine points for Hartwick by edging out her New Paltz opponent by .71 seconds in the 500-yard freestyle.
  • Pierce and Wilbur wrapped up their individual events with a second and third place finish in the 200-yard individual medley.
 
 
UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS
 
The Hawks will now turn their attention to the Allegheny Empire Championships which will be held at Webster Schroeder High School in Webster, New York.The competition begins on Wednesday, February 15 and runs through Saturday, February 18.
