Hawks Defeated by Cardinals in E8 Opener

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hawks dropped their Empire 8 opener against St. John Fisher on Friday night, 93-50.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
 
  • After nearly three scoreless minutes, the Hawks were the first to get on the board behind a jumper from Daniel Oyediran (Madison, N.J.).
  • The score would remain tight between the two Empire 8 foes until late in the half.
  • With just over three minutes remaining in the first half, the visiting Cardinals put together a run to end the first 20 minutes of play with a 41-27 lead over the Hawks.
  • Oyediran dominated the first half for the Hawks, picking up 18 of his 20 points in the half.
  • Unfortunately, the second half belonged to St. John Fisher as the Cardinals shot 65% from the floor, outscoring the Hawks 52-23 to claim the Empire 8 win.

The Hawks return to Lambros Arena tomorrow afternoon to wrap up their first conference weekend of the season, taking on the Golden Flyers from Nazareth College at 4 PM.
