Men’s Lacrosse Season Comes to a Close in the E8 Semifinal at St. John Fisher

PITTSFORD N.Y. – The Hawks fell behind early but rallied to get within one at the end of the 1st quarter.  Unfortunately, it was not enough as the potent Fisher attack took over in the 2nd quarter to propel them to a 24-7 win over Hartwick in the Empire 8 Semifinal.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
 
  • The Cardinals picked up the first goal of the game just over a minute into play.
  • The hosts would go on to score two more over the next six minutes in the first quarter to take an early 3-0 lead.
  • The Hawks battled back as Matthew Locasto (Floral Park, N.Y.) found the back of the net with 4:32 remaining in the quarter.
  • St. John Fisher took back their three-goal lead with a tally of their own at the 3:49 mark.
  • However, Locasto struck again less than 40 seconds later to cut the Cardinals lead in half at 4-2.
  • Hartwick got within one as Garrett Frost (Wading River, N.Y.) capitalized on a man-up opportunity with an assist from Tyler Nocito (Mahopac, N.Y.) with 2:24 remaining in the 1st.
  • Fisher scored two in the early part of the 2nd quarter to go up by three tallies.
  • Senior Pete Conley (Foxborough, Mass.) got the Hawks right back into it with an unassisted strike at the 8:18 mark in the quarter.
  • Unfortunately for the visiting squad, the Cardinals would go on to score four unanswered to close out the 2nd quarter with a 10-4 lead.
  • The top-seeded Cardinals once again opened the quarter strong, tacking on three.
  • Seth Bello (Holliston, Mass.) broke the streak at the 8:35 mark, but St. John Fisher responded just under two minutes later to take back the momentum.
  • The Cardinals would go on to score five more in the quarter to take a 14-goal lead into the final quarter.
  • The St. John Fisher attack did not let up in the 4th quarter, ultimately defeating the Hawks 24-7.
