WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The host Cardinals struggled to find their footing against the Hawks early in the 1st quarter.
- However, once St. John Fisher broke through, they did so in a big way tacking putting up eight over the final 11 minutes of the quarter.
- Claudia Pollaro (Queensbury, N.Y.) broke the Fisher streak with a goal at the 12:50 mark in the 2nd quarter to get the Hawks on the board. Katrina Marten (Middlesex, N.Y.) picked up the assist.
- Unfortunately, the Hartwick momentum was short-lived as the nationally ranked Cardinals responded with another tally of their own 18 seconds later.
- Fisher rallied behind that goal, eventually earning the running clock with 11:02 remaining in the opening half.
- Ellie Masterpole (Syracuse, N.Y.) looked to get Hartwick back into it, scoring with just over three minutes remaining in the 2nd quarter.
- St. John Fisher added one more tally with 1:23 left in the half to take a 13-2 lead into the break.
- The Hawks added two goals to their total in the 3rd and two more in the 4th, but it was not enough as the Cardinals went on to win 17-6.
- Despite the loss, Hartwick has completed one of the most successful seasons in recent years, hitting the 10-win mark for the first time since 2017. In addition, several players posted career-high, season-high, and game-high records including Kristen Vaccarelli (Dix Hills, N.Y.) and Marten hitting the 100 point mark in just their sophomore seasons.
