ONEONTA, N.Y. – Senior setter, Braelyn Hornick (Candor, N.Y.) becomes the first player in Hartwick Volleyball history to be named an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American with her Honorable Mention nod as announced by the AVCA today.
 
Just a week ago, Hornick was the first player in program history to be named to an AVCA First Team All-Region squad.
 
After having to take a year off due to injury, Hornick returned to the Hawks lineup, to orchestrate an offense that averaged 12.5 kills per set.  The Empire 8 First Team honoree posted 858 assists and averaged 10.21 assists per set across 84 sets played.  She also surpassed the 2,000 career assists mark on November 9 in a 3-1 win over rival, SUNY Oneonta.  Hornick also helped lead her team to the program's first regional ranking, climbing as high as the fourth spot.
 
"I am so grateful for both Brae, and our women's volleyball program, to receive this tremendous honor from the AVCA," said Paul Vecchio, Executive Director of Athletics. "Brae was the quarterback of a team that set new benchmarks for our women's volleyball program both as a team – by earning our first regional ranking in school history – and individually. My sincerest congratulations to Brae and Coach Donovan on a spectacular season capped by this historic achievement."

Hornick is no stranger to AVCA recognition, having earned All-Region Honorable Mention Honors in 2022 to go along with a National Player of the Week Honor that same season.
