Hawks Suffer Empire 8 Loss Against Golden Flyers

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The visiting Nazareth University Golden Flyers dominated the Hawks from start to finish to hand Hartwick a loss in Empire 8 play on Saturday afternoon.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
 
  • The visiting Nazareth Golden Flyers flew all around the turf in the 1st quarter, putting up eight unanswered goals against the Hawks.
  • Garrett Frost (Wading River, N.Y.) wasted little time coming out of the mid-quarter break, getting Hartwick on the board just 43 seconds into the 2nd.
  • Nazareth responded quickly, notching two of their own before the Hawks could get on the board again.
  • Frost picked up his second of the game at the 8:59 mark.
  • Frost picked up the hatty just over two minutes later, making the score 12-3 in favor of the Flyers.
  • The Hawks built on the momentum from there, as Colin August (Garrison, N.Y.) and Tyler Nocito (Mahopac, N.Y.) got in on the action.
  • However, the Hawks still trailed 15-6 heading into halftime.
  • The Golden Flyers dominated the 3rd quarter, outscoring the Hawks 8-1 to take a commanding 23-7 lead.
  • Hartwick responded early in the 4th with August registering back-to-back tallies including a behind the back strike to give the Hawks a spark to open the final quarter of play.
  • Nazareth kept the pressure on throughout the remainder of the quarter to claim the 25-9 win.
  • Prior to the contest, the Hawks honored their eight seniors, Duncan Jarvi, Shayne Kerrigan, Louis Cappellino, Seth Bello, Daniel Beltran, Liam Kinnane, William Tighe, and Nick Cacciola.
