ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hartwick Women's Lacrosse Team celebrated their three seniors in style, coming away with a special victory over conference opponent, Alfred University.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Before today's match, the team recognized their three seniors, Elle Stringer (Rensselaer, N.Y.), Emily Madigan (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Claudia Pollaro (Queensbury, N.Y.).

The first quarter began with both teams vying for possession and trying to formulate an attack.

Kristen Vaccarelli (Dix Hills, N.Y.) got the Hawks on the scoreboard, converting on a free position attempt with 11:17 left in the first.

Vaccarelli won the ensuing draw control, starting the attack once again for Hartwick. Kara Anderson (Collingwood, Ont.) cut across the Saxon backline and scored, just 11 seconds after the first goal.

Hanna Goodreau (North Reading, Mass.) took advantage of an Alfred foul, scoring on a free position attempt to bump the lead up to three.

Following an Alfred timeout, the Hawks won the draw control and marched down field. Goodreau was able to spot a cutting Vaccarelli who rifled one past the keeper for her second goal.

With that goal, Kristen Vaccarelli now sits at 10th All-Time in program history with 152 career goals.

The Hawks would not be deterred after finding themselves in a man-down situation after a yellow card. Stringer dished it off to Madigan who scored to cap off a five goal scoring run.

Alfred picked up their first goal off a free position attempt with four minutes left.

Pollaro scored her first goal of the game to put the Hawks back up five. Katrina Marten (Middlesex, N.Y.) capped off the first quarter with a free position goal as the first quarter ended 7-1.

The second quarter got off to a quick start with Vaccarelli winning the draw control and later scored 29 seconds into the quarter, notching her 11th hat trick this season.

Marten picked up her first assist of the game, hitting a cutting Pollaro who found the back of the net for her second goal.

The Saxons scored on a free position goal once again, Marten answered back with a goal of her own, coming off an assist from Stringer with nine minutes remaining.

Vaccarelli scored her fourth goal, putting the Hawks up 11-2 with 8:02 on the clock.

Madigan spotted Anderson who notched her second goal of the game, Goodreau scored the final goal of the half off a feed from Pollaro for an incredible first half from the squad.

Hartwick scored their first goal of the second half, building off momentum from an Alfred yellow card. Vaccarelli notched her fifth goal, with Pollaro picking up her second assist.

Goodreau found the back of the net once again, receiving the dish from Marten as the team increased their lead to 15-2. A Saxon goal capped off the third quarter to chip away at the Hawk lead.

The fourth quarter opened up with an Alfred goal at the ten minute mark.

Stringer scored her first goal of the game as Marten picked up her third assist, a little under six minutes left.

Madigan knocked down the 17th and final goal of the game, coming off a perfectly placed pass from Marten.

With that assist, Katrina Marten cemented herself into Hartwick's Women's Lacrosse program history. Marten's 113 career assists places her at the top of the all-time career assist list, Marten now holds the single game, season and career assists record.

Vaccarelli led the scoring with five goals and Marten led passing with four assists.
