WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Hawks fell behind early in the match, dropping both first and second doubles bye decision and third by forfeit.
- However, the squad bounced back to claim wins at third, fourth, and fifth singles.
- Maggie Van Valkenburgh (Highland, N.Y.) outlasted her opponent at third singles, winning the first set in a lengthy tie break 14-12 before taking the second set 7-5.
- Gianna Leggieri (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) came up big for the Hawks at fourth singles, defeating her opponent in straight sets, 6-4 and 7-5.
- Sophomore Maddi Morrison (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) rounded out Hartwick's win total, rallying back from a first set loss to win the second set 7-5 and the deciding tie breaker 10-5.
