Hawks Silence Bulldogs with a 3-0 Road Win

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Hawks picked up their first win of the 2024 season with a 3-0 win on the road at DeSales University.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
 
  • The Bulldogs put their home field advantage to use early in the 1st quarter, forcing four-straight penalty corners.
  • The Hawks were able to shut down DeSales for all four before earning one of their own in the 12th minute of action.
  • A foul during the play resulted in a stroke opportunity for the Hawks.
  • Ashley Tricarico (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) converted the attempt to put the Hawks up 1-0.
  • The Hawks continued to force the Bulldogs into penalties in the circle in the 2nd quarter.
  • A stroke was called once again in the 23rd minute of play, giving Hartwick an opportunity to extend their lead.
  • Tricarico converted once again to give the Hawks the 2-0 win.
  • Hartwick continued their dominance into the second half, but were unable to find the cage during the 3rd quarter.
  • The Hawks' efforts paid off in the 4th quarter as Danielle Hand (Queensbury, N.Y.) found the back of the cage with just over 10 minutes remaining to give the Hawks a 3-0 cushion.
  • Caroline Aspuru (Farmingville, N.Y.) picked up her second assist of the season on the play.
  • Ava Reynolds (South Glens Falls, N.Y.) captured her first career win in the cage for the Hawks, tallying 8 saves including a late stop on a stroke opportunity in the 4th quarter to secure the shut out.
  • Head Coach Erin Autera praised her team's effort stating, "we were happy to see the team apply everything we worked on this past week.  The team played hard, used their abilities and came in clutch on stroke opportunities both offensively and defensively."
 
UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS
 
The Hawks will look to carry this momentum into next weekend when they travel to Houghton University to take on the Highlanders at 1 PM on Saturday, September 21 to open up Empire 8 play.
