CANTON, N.Y. – The Hawks started off their second weekend of the series with a 3-1 win over the St. Lawrence University Saints on Friday night.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Hawks capitalized on six attack errors by the Saints in the first set on their way to a 25-18 win.
- Hartwick continued to put the pressure on St. Lawrence defensively in the second, once again forcing their opponent into seven attack errors and a near zero attack percentage in the 25-19 win.
- St. Lawrence was able to rebound in the third set, squeaking out a 25-22 win.
- The Hawks responded in dominant fashion in the fourth set, winning the set 25-14 to close out the 3-1 win.
- "This was a really good team win for us," said Head Coach Janet Donovan. "It was great to see us come out strong in the fourth set after dropping the serve. Shaelyn Thornton (Scarborough, Me.) went on a serving run early in the fourth to give us a lead. St. Lawrence is a very good team and we turned in a gritty performance to pull out the win."
- Staecia Silofau (Kapolei, Hawaii) led the team with 13 kills and 12 digs.
- Shelby Swartz (Candor, N.Y.) also finished the match in double digit kills with 11.
- At the net, middle hitters Isabella Gracias (Oneonta, N.Y.) and Aaliyah Williams (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) along with setter, Braelyn Hornick (Candor, N.Y.) combined for 10 blocks.
- In addition to posting 33 assists, Hornick also picked up 11 digs.
- Arianna Thompson (Hogansburg, N.Y.) finished the evening with 10 digs to go along with two aces.
UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS
The Hawks will head to Clarkson University tomorrow for the second day of the tournament where they will take on Clarkson at 11 AM before rounding out their weekend with a 1 PM match against Oswego State.
