ALFRED, N.Y. - The Hartwick Men's Swim and Dive Team hit the road for their final regular season Empire 8 meet, being handed their first conference loss this season by the Saxons.

The Hawks opened their afternoon with a second place finish in the 200 yard medley relay. Evan Nezat (Jacksonville, N.C.), Daniel Chung (Roslyn, N.Y.), Karim Mohamed (New Hartford, N.Y.), and Sebastian Knowles (Plano, Tex.) combined for a time of one minute and 42 seconds.

Cameron Drake (El Cajon, Cal.) continues to impress in the distance freestyle events, taking first place in the 1000 yard freestyle with a finishing mark of ten minutes and four seconds, a whopping 36 seconds before the Saxons.

Bryce Rogers (Fulton, N.Y.) kept the momentum on the Hawks' side, being first to touch the wall in the 200 yard freestyle, clocking in at one minute and 48 seconds.

Peyton Humphries (South Glens Falls, N.Y.) tied for second place in one meter diving, scoring 199.

Nezat took first place in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 49.62 seconds, just edging out Rogers by .22 seconds.

The Hawks swept the freestyle events as Drake returned and took first place in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of four minutes and 52 seconds.

Rogers pulled the last individual event in favor of the Hawks, taking the 100 yard freestyle in a tight race, clocking in at 53.60 seconds, beating out a Saxon by .32 seconds.

Hartwick capped off their day with a win in the 200 yard freestyle relay as Rogers, Nezat, Knowles, and Hassan Abdelwahed (New Hartford, N.Y.) combined for a one minute and 28 second finish.

Despite the win in the final event, the Hawks fell just short to their Empire 8 foes, 175.5 to 120.5.

UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS
The Hawks will head back to Moyer Pool for their final home tri-meet with St. Lawrence and Alfred State on Saturday, January 25th, beginning at 9AM.
