WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • The Hawks matched up with the Pioneers for their first road contest after a five game home-stand.

  • After being held scoreless the first three minutes, Emma Cohen (Utica, N.Y.) got the Royal Blue and White on the board with a block on the defensive end, then swung the ball to a cutting Macy Durkin (Syracuse, N.Y.) for the layup.

  • Cohen knocked down a pull-up jumper from midrange for her first points of the night as the Hawks trailed by two with a little under four minutes left.

  • Cohen went a perfect four for four from the charity stripe to cap off the first quarter, with the deficit at three.

  • Hartwick looked to get the offense fired up as Cohen led the way, opening the quarter with a layup and a free throw.

  • Bailey McCoy (Otego, N.Y.) hit a big time triple to give the squad their first lead of the night with seven minutes left in the half.

  • Durkin padded the lead to three before Utica pulled back ahead with a pair of buckets.

  • Niamh Kelly (Latham, N.Y.) connected on the driving layup to pull within one but the Pioneers strung together an 8-0 run to end the half.

  • Durkin continued to be a force in the paint, collecting six points to open the third quarter.

  • The offense struggled to connect from the field for the rest of the quarter, Daniella DeBiase (Staten Island, N.Y.) was able to break the cold spell at the end of the third quarter with her second three of the period.

  • DeBiase connected on another shot from downtown as the Hawks looked to chip away at the double digit deficit with one final quarter remaining as the fourth quarter got underway.

  • Durkin attempted to bring the offense back to life but the Utica offense proved to be too much to handle in the fourth, having their best offensive quarter to keep the Hawks away.

  • Macy Durkin secured yet another double-double this season, posting 14 points and a new career-high 16 rebounds.

  • Cohen and DeBiase poured in 13 and nine points respectively to round out the scoring.

UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS

The Hawks will return to Lambros Arena for an Empire 8 matchup with the SUNY Poly Wildcats on Saturday, January 25th at 2:00 PM. The Women's Basketball program will honor their lone senior, Daniella DeBiase before the start of the contest.
