  • With two conference games remaining, the Hawks currently are in 7th place with the top eight teams advancing to the tournament.

  • Hunter Bulich and Mariano Kool (Amsterdam, Netherlands) led the offensive charge, both posting two shots.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hawks faced early adversity right out of the gate, conceding a corner kick in the opening minute. St. John Fisher managed the first shot of the match but missed high, spoiling the early pressure. The Cardinals continued to push forward despite being flagged offside in the eighth minute, generating additional shots in the 11th and 15th minutes. Hartwick held firm through the early surge, but Fisher eventually broke through in the 32nd minute, capitalizing on a loose ball off a set piece to take a 1–0 lead. Despite a competitive first half, the Hawks entered the break trailing by one.

St. John Fisher opened the second half with the first attempt on goal before Hartwick began to build sustained pressure of its own. In the 56th minute, a pinpoint corner from Devin Chandler (Wylie, Tex.) found Kayden Zachgo (Warwick, N.Y.), whose header was goal-bound before being cleared off the line by a defender. The Hawks kept the tempo high, with Hunter Bulich (Catskill, N.Y.) narrowly missing wide in the 63rd minute. Chandler continued to test the Cardinal defense, forcing a save from distance in the 66th minute as 'Wick edged closer to an equalizer.

The Hawks continued to push late, with Terriek Brown (Greene, N.Y.) denied by the Fisher keeper in the 83rd minute as time wound down. Their final look came in the 88th minute when Bulich rose for a header off a cross but missed just wide of the post. Despite the strong second-half effort and relentless pressure, the Hawks came up just short, falling on the road to their conference rivals with two Empire 8 contests remaining.

UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS
The Hawks will prepare for their final home match, matching up against the Saxons of Alfred University on Saturday, October 25 at 2PM.
