Men's Swimming and Diving Secures Home Tri-Match Win

ONEONTA, N.Y. - The men's swimming and diving team came up with a big win at home Tri-Match against Nazareth University Golden Flyers and the King's College Monarchs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The 200 yard medley relay kicked off the day, with Karim Mohamed (New Hartford, N.Y.), Madhi Behniaye (Hannibal, Mo.), Conor Barry (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and Cooper Arron posting a dominant finish to clinch first place. Mohamed would also make waves with a first place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke and the 200 yard breaststroke.

The 1,000 yard freestyle also saw explosive performances from Matthew Cole (Wolcott, N.Y.), Lane Rawls (Baldwinsville, N.Y.), and Sam Rosen (Selkirk, N.Y.), who swept the top three finishes. Bryce Rogers (Fulton, N.Y.) would soon take first place in both the 200 yard freestyle and the 100 yard butterfly, with Hassan Abdelwahed (New Hartford, N.Y.) only one second behind in the 200 yard freestyle to take second.

Despite falling slightly short of first place to Nazareth in both the 100 yard breaststroke and the 200 yard butterfly, the Hawks would bounce back with Abdelwahed taking first in both the 50 yard freestyle and 100 yard freestyle. Rawls then led the way in the 500 yard freestyle with an impressive 5:26.29 final time, with Rosen following up for second place.

To cap off the swimming events, Rogers, Arron, Abdelwahed, and first-year Keegan Burkhardt (West Hurley, NY) would secure first in the 200 yard freestyle relay.

Hartwick posted three divers for the 1 meter diving event, with Alexander Chapman (Port Crane, NY) leading with a final score of 173.00. In the 3 meter diving event, it was Diego Vera (White Plains, NY) to take first place with a score of 163.80.

To finish the day, the Hartwick men's swimming and diving team would secure a home Tri-Match win, outscoring Nazareth 215-47 and King's College 208-20.
