ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hartwick women's soccer program has landed three Hawks on the Empire 8 All-Conference list after a great season.
First-year Ella Grupe (Freehold, N.Y.), sophomore Millie Caldon (Gilmanton, N.H.), and junior Trinity Irizarry (Greenwood Lake, N.Y.) would all be named to the All-Conference Second Team for their standout performances this season.
As a rookie, Grupe would lead the Hawks on the offense, earning herself 4 goals and 4 assists to cap off her first year, including a game-winning goal at Keuka on October, 4th. She would also post 24 of 44 shots on goal for a solid .545 shot on goal percentage. In addition to her All-Conference selection, Grupe would also be recognized as the Empire 8 Rookie of the Year for her standout debut season with the Hawks.
Caldon would earn her first All-Conference recognition in her career with the Hawks after a great season where she put up 4 goals- including the lone goal in a victory over RPI on September 7th– as well as 2 assists. She was a pest on the offensive drive, posting a relentless 22 of 54 shots on goal.
Irizarry was another incredible asset to the team this year, starting every game for the Hawks as a defender and shutting down multiple crucial scoring opportunities for opposing teams. She would also take one shot on goal this season. This is Irizarry's first All-Conference recognition.
In addition to the All-Conference selections, the Empire 8 has also named senior Nicasia Santos (Flemington, N.J.) as Hartwick's representative for the Empire 8 Tomorrow's Leaders Team, an honor given to those who have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits of an outstanding sportswoman.
