GENESEO, N.Y. – Men's soccer took on the Knights on the road, battling through 90 minutes to an 0-2 decision.
Jelani Usim (Kingston, Jamaica) made eight saves for the Hawks, while
Nils Ole Petersen (Greiz, Germany) added three saves.
Devin Chandler (Wylie, Tex.) led the Hartwick attack with four shots, three on target, while
Joseph Allen (Clifton Park, N.Y.) added two shots with one on frame.
Muhammad Traore (Manchester, N.H.) recorded Hartwick's other shot on goal, forcing a save from the Geneseo keeper in the first half.
Hartwick finished with nine shots, five on goal, while Geneseo recorded 20 shots with 13 on target. Additionally, both teams earned four corners.
Geneseo controlled much of the first half, recording 11 shots. Usim kept the Hawks within one, with six saves during the opening half. Traore recorded Hartwick's first shot on goal in the 32
nd minute, but was ultimately denied by the keeper. The Knights broke through in the 39
th minute, finding the back of the net off of an assist.
Hartwick came out looking for an equalizer early in the second half, with Allen and Chandler each putting shots on target in the first four minutes.
Luca Dominguez (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) was issued a second yellow in the 49
th minute, leaving the Hawks with 10 players for the remainder of the match. Geneseo doubled its lead moments later with another goal.
Petersen entered the net in the 53
rd minute, making three saves to neutralize the Knight's offense, while Chandler put two more shots on target late in the match.
