HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hawks returned to Wright Stadium after a Wednesday battle against local rival Oneonta, looking to get back on track against the Rams of Framingham State in the first ever meeting between the two programs.

Shea Holloway (Fort Johnson, NY) opened the scoring for the Blue and White, converting on a free-position attempt just over a minute into the contest. Framingham State was slow out of the gate, but once the Rams found their rhythm, their offense became a major threat. Framingham seized control of the half, scoring eight goals in the opening quarter while firing on all cylinders offensively.

The Rams continued their momentum in the second frame, adding five more goals before Hartwick was able to break through. Jackie Owens (Poughquag, NY) found Maura Donoghue (Paramus, N.J.) cutting toward the cage, and Donoghue finished the play with 1:40 remaining in the half to get the Hawks back on the board.

Trailing at halftime, Hartwick came out with renewed intensity in the third quarter. Adelyn Esce (Cicero, NY) struck first for the Hawks, recording her first goal of the game. The Blue and White continued to apply pressure as Empire 8 Player to Watch Parker Laurin (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) scored on a woman-up opportunity off an assist from Lily Dempsey (Glenville, N.Y.). Less than 30 seconds later, Laurin found the back of the net again, this time off a feed from Esce, as Hartwick began to chip away at the deficit. The Hawks held Framingham State without a shot in the third quarter after the Rams' explosive first half, entering the final frame trailing by eight.

Framingham State regained its footing early in the fourth quarter, taking advantage of a penalty at the end of the third to score a woman-up goal just 26 seconds into the period. The Rams followed with another goal 30 seconds later to extend their lead back to double digits.

Despite the deficit, Hartwick continued to battle. Dempsey recorded her first goal of the game on a woman-up opportunity. After the Rams netted their final goal of the contest, Dempsey added the last tally of the afternoon for the Hawks, scoring while a player down. Owens collected her second assist of the game on the play.

UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS
