HOW IT HAPPENED
Hartwick prepared for its fifth consecutive game away from Wright Stadium, facing the surging Geneseo Knights in a conference rematch. The Hawks took the opening matchup 20-13 on March 28 and looked to repeat that success against the conference leaders.

The Hawks came up empty on their opening possession before the host Knights scored on their first drive, converting the extra point. Hartwick was stopped again on its next drive as Geneseo extended the lead to 13-0, holding the Hawks scoreless in the first quarter.

After a quiet opening frame, Audra Doll (Greene, NY) got Hartwick on the board with a 39-yard sprint, and the Hawks converted the extra-point pass attempt. Geneseo's offense continued to click, however, posting 14 points in the second quarter to take a 20-point advantage into halftime. Hartwick was blanked in the third quarter as an eight-yard quarterback run by the Knights marked the only score of the period, with Geneseo maintaining firm control.

Hartwick showed its best offensive rhythm in the fourth quarter as Doll broke free for two rushing scores. Despite the late surge, the Hawks were unable to slow Geneseo consistently, as the Knights built a sizable lead. Hartwick held Geneseo to 14 second-half points but could not generate enough offense in time, splitting the season series.

Doll led the offense with 111 yards through the air while adding 119 yards on the ground. Bailey McCoy (Otego, N.Y.) paced the receiving corps with six catches for 60 yards. Ellie Kalbach (Spring City, Pa.) continued her strong defensive play with 15 flag pulls, including a tackle for loss and a pass breakup. Reese Malfettone (Holtsville, N.Y.) applied pressure on the edge, recording seven flag pulls, two sacks, and a game-high three tackles for loss.

UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS
Hartwick will return home to host Russell Sage on Tuesday, April 14 at 4 p.m.
