ONEONTA, NY – Softball hosted Elmira for their last double-header of the season, splitting the twin bill to end on a win in their second game. A moon shot from Samanatha Moore drove three runs in for the Hawks, building the Blue and White's lead to end the spring with an electric comeback win.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1)
Elmira jumped out to an early lead with a four-run first inning. The Soaring Eagles produced a home run in their first at bat, before adding another three run homer late in the inning to give themselves a quick 4-0 advantage. Elmira added another run in the second before Hartwick got on the board in the bottom half, as
Ashlee Stevens (Knox, NY) delivered an RBI single to left field to score
Natalie VanZandt (Oneonta, NY), and to cut the deficit 5-1.
Elmira added another solo home run in the fourth and a two-run double in the fifth to lead the offensive charge, putting the game out of reach
Hartwick collected five hits in the contest, with
Jaidan Beak (Matawan, MI)
Nadia Pascucci (Troy, NY),
Ashlee Stevens (Knox, NY) and
Madi Hoerman (Portage, MI) contributing offensively. Stevens finished with the Hawks' lone RBI, while VanZandt scored the team's only run.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2)
After dropping game one, Hartwick responded with a strong comeback effort in game two, defeating Elmira in their last competition of the season.
Elmira struck first once again, using a solo home run and an RBI single to take a 2-0 lead in the opening inning. Hartwick answered quickly in the bottom half when
Samantha Moore (Mamaroneck, NY) drove in
Emily Holladay (Hancocks Bridge, NJ) with an RBI single to cut the deficit 2-1.
The turning point came in the third inning after
Casey O'Connor (Albany, NY) and
Alicea Seitzinger (Bridgeton, NJ) reached base.
Samantha Moore launched a three-run home run to left field, scoring the go-ahead run and giving the Hawks their first lead of the day at 4-2. Later in the inning,
Ashlee Stevens added an RBI double to score
Nadia Pascucci and extended the advantage by one more run.
Hartwick added insurance in the fourth and sixth innings as Moore continued her standout performance with another RBI single in each frame, finishing the game with five RBIs to push the lead to 7-4.
Elmira scored twice in the fifth on a solo homer and an RBI ground out, but Hartwick's defense held strong the rest of the way to secure the win.
Moore led the Hawks offensively with 3 hits and 5 RBIs, while O'Connor collected three hits to score three times. Stevens added two hits and an RBI while Holladay reached base and scored twice as Hartwick closed out the split.
