ONEONTA, NY – Hartwick Tennis picked up a loss today in their Battle of the Hills match up, falling 6-1 to the Red Dragons at the Dr. Heissan Tennis Courts.
Hartwick earned their lone point at first singles, where
Samantha Lantzy (Valatie, N.Y.) defeated her opponent 6-3, 7-5. Lantzy battled through a second-set comeback attempt from the opposing Red Dragon to secure the only Hawks' only point of the match. Second to fourth singles ended in 2-set decisions, pushing Oneonta in the lead. At fifth singles,
Sasha Garcia (Pueblo, Col.) fought through a first-set tie break, before falling 7-6 (7-5), 6-1.
In doubles play, Lantzy and
Gianna Leggieri (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) fell 6-2 at first doubles. In second doubles,
Autumn Millington (Rome, N.Y.) and
Ciara McManus (Kingston, N.Y.) dropped an 0-6 decision, while in third doubles
Jillian Ferrie (Middle Grove, N.Y.) and Garcia ultimately fell 1-6.
