Coach Valenta joins Coach Cooper's staff as a volunteer assistant who will assist in video analysis and opponent scouting.
Coach Valenta currently serves as a 5th grade teacher at Laurel Woods Elementary. He has coached various age levels throughout his career with stops as an an assistant high school coach at Binghamton High School in Binghamton, New York and Cristo Rey High School in Baltimore, Maryland. Valenta has also coached at various age levels with Howard County Parks and Recreation.
Coach Valenta and Coach Cooper's relationship extends back to their collegiate playing days at Fredonia State. "I couldn't be more excited to have Scotty join our program," said Coach Cooper. "I've known Scotty for nearly 20 years. He is not only one of the best basketball minds I've ever known, but also one of the best people I've ever known. The addition of 'ScottyV' makes us a better basketball team."
