Damien Prohaska enters his first year with the Hawks as the Assistant Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach. The Binghamton, NY native joins the ranks after serving as a Freshman Admissions Counselor and Assistant Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach at SUNY Oneonta.
 
Beginning in August of last year, Prohaska assisted with team activities ranging from fundraising efforts to the creation of a strength and conditioning program. Additionally, Prohaska provided on-court instruction.
 
Before transitioning to the sideline, Prohaska was a four-year standout for the Red Dragons highlighted by a stellar sophomore year. In just his second season, the former captain earned eight singles wins while adding four doubles victories to his resume.
 
With Admissions, he managed both in-state and out-of-state recruitment territories, processed and reviewed applications, as well as guided prospective students and their families through all steps of the admissions process. Amongst other duties, he oversaw several of the college’s special admission programs and served as liaison to the Athletics Department.
 
Since 2009, Prohaska has served many capacities at the Levene, Gouldin & Thompson Tennis Challenger headlined by his most recent title of Coordinator of the Ball-Runner group. There, he has organized marketing and outreach for tournament and the ball-runner group to local media outlets, oversaw recruitment and training of volunteers and assisted with planning and coordination of player and staff events.
 
Previously in 2014-2016, he was named the Tennis Program Coordinator and back in his hometown. With the City of Binghamton Parks and Recreation department, Prohaska developed weekly lesson plans for a variety of ages and skill levels, supervised the hiring of supporting instructors and evaluated their performance, and served as director for community tournaments.
 
Prohaska graduated from SUNY Oneonta in May 2016 with a B.S. in Mass Communication with minors in Journalism and Business Communication.
