Louise Lansing will enter her 18th season as Hartwick's head volleyball coach this fall.
A member of the Hartwick coaching staff since the fall of 1982, Lansing has assisted with varsity field hockey and lacrosse and has headed the junior varsity programs for both sports. In 1993, Lansing was an assistant volleyball coach before taking over as head coach of the program the following year. She has served as an assistant coach with the softball and women's basketball teams, and has worked as the associate sports information director.
Under her direction in 2007, the Hartwick program went into uncharted waters. The Hawk finished with an 18-15 record, its third-ever sport in the NYSWCAA Championships, and its first-ever berth at the ECAC Tournament. Lansing coached one individual, Christina Evans, to the E8 Rookie of the Year honor, a first team all-state mention and a spot on the E8 second team.
Lansing has led the Hawks to two other appearances in the NYSWCAA Volleyball Tournament. In 1997, the 11th-seeded Hawks defeated two higher ranked teams and finished in fifth place and finish with a school-record 24 victories. She also guided the Hawks to the state tournament in 1999.
After receiving a bachelor of science degree in social science education from SUNY-Oneonta, she completed her New York State coaching certification in 1980.
Lansing played field hockey and lacrosse for the Red Dragons. She was a record-setting goalie in lacrosse and was team captain for two seasons. Lansing was named to the New York State all-star lacrosse squad in 1979.
The girls' varsity volleyball coach at Oneonta High School for 13 years, Lansing will direct the Hartwick College volleyball camp for the 16th time in the summer of 2011.
