Nathan Crews was hired in the fall of 2022 as the Head Men’s and Women’s Cross-Country Coach. Crews will also serve as the Assistant Coach for Men’s and Women’s Track and Field. He will enter his fourth year as head coach of the Hawks in the fall of 2025.
During the fall 2024 season, Crews would get both the men's and women's team into the Empire 8 Championships, where the women would finish 7th and the men would finish 8th. Both teams would also appear in the NCAA Niagara Regional Championship again.
In the 2023 season, Crews would lead the men's team to a 23rd place finish in the NCAA Niagara Regional Championships and the women's team to a 7th place finish in the Empire 8 Championship and NCAA Niagara Regional Championship appearance. Eleven Hawks would set personal records at the E8 Championships under Crews' guidance.
Crews comes to Hartwick from Houghton College where he served as a graduate assistant for both the cross-country program and the track and field program. While at Houghton, Crews was integral in recruiting athletes to the Highlander’s programs as well as contributing to the day-to-day operations of both programs.
Prior to Houghton, Coach Crews was a Physical Education teacher at Highland Christian Academy in Valdosta, Georgia. As the academy’s head coach of cross-country and track and field, he coached a 2020 GAPPS State Cross Country runner up on the girl’s side, and a top-10 finisher on the boy’s side. During the track and field season, he coached two All-State boy’s athletes in three events.
Crews graduated from Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science. Crews completed his Master of Business Administration degree at Houghton University in December 2023. Crews received his United States Track and Field Level 1 certification in December 2021. In the summer of 2025, Crews also earned his United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Endurance Specialist certification.
