Heidi Hofbauer-Buzzy enters her 28th season as an athletic trainer at Hartwick College.
In 2011, she was named head athletic trainer for all Hartwick varsity sports. Her duties include overseeing assistant athletic trainers with the responsibility of rehabilitating and providing care for all Hartwick scholar-athletes. She also is responsible for overseeing the training room, supervising work-study students, and planning and scheduling medical coverage at sporting events. She is the coordinator for all institutional drug testing and the liaison for team physicians.Â
From 1994-99, Hofbauer-Buzzy worked at Otsego Orthopedics in Oneonta, N.Y. as a certified athletic trainer in their therapy and rehabilitation department. While at Otsego Orthopedics, she also ran Otsego Fitness and Wellness. In 1994, she began her tenure with Hartwick when she was contracted out by Otsego Orthopedics to be the Hawks’ head football trainer. She became a full-time trainer at Hartwick in 1999.
She previously worked in Cape Coral, FL from 1993-94 in the therapy department at Cape Coral Hospital and also served as the head trainer at Cape Coral High School.
A National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) member, Hofbauer-Buzzy was responsible for the design and selection of equipment for Hartwick’s Elting Fitness Center, which was remodeled in 2004. She also designed the Mitchell Room, a separate room connected to the fitness center which serves as a team room for closed team workouts. The Mitchell Room was built in the summer of 2002.
She received her bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Springfield College in 1994 and graduated with a minor in health and fitness. She is licensed by New York State in athletic training and professional CPR/AED.
In May 2012, she received her certification in TRX suspension training. She also teaches a personal fitness class. She loves to play golf and her passion is fitness.
Hofbauer-Buzzy serves on the board of the Greater Oneonta Historical Society. An Oneonta native, she resides in Oneonta with her husband, Brett, and their four children, Mickaela, Anika, Dakoda, and Nikoala.
