Velho scored the game-winning goal (the first such tally of her career) in Saturday’s big Empire 8 win over Utica, 2-0. She found the ball off a deflection on a corner kick and bounced one to the lower left corner of the net a few seconds later for the game’s first goal in the 14th minute. Velho was also a big part of a stout Hartwick defensive effort that ended up with its sixth clean sheet of the season, allowing just two shots in the first 70+ minutes of the contest.
