Chernyak was named the winner of the Roy Chipman Memorial Award for Male Athlete of the Year for 2019-20. He took individual titles in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke events, earning Empire 8 First Team honors in the process, at the conference championships in February. He secured an NCAA “B” cut time in the 200 breast and finished the competition with a total of 115 points. Chernyak registered 28 victories in dual meets this season and capped his final campaign as a Hawk with 426 points.
