Hartwick Plays to 0-0 Draw at Colgate

HAMILTON, NY – Hartwick extended its unbeaten streak to six games but did not get the result it wanted on Tuesday night at Colgate as the Hawks and Raiders played to a 0-0 tie after 110 minutes of action. The Hawks overall record now stands at 6-2-2. The Raiders are now 4-5-1. The tie snaps 'Wick's five game win streak that dates back to Sept. 13th.
The game marks the sixth clean sheet for the Hawks and goalkeeper Jeremy Vuolo (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown W.), who finished with four saves, all of which came in the second half.
The Raiders ended the match with a 17-15 edge in shots. Hartwick outshot Colgate 6-3 in the opening 45 minutes of play, but the Raiders had the better of play for much of the second half taking 10 shots to the Hawks' one over the first 30 minutes of the second stanza.
'Wick would step up in the closing stages of regulation firing four shots on Colgate's net. Shots from Sam Wright (Nequay, England/Bryant & Stratton) and Nick Roydhouse (Palmerston, New Zealand) were on target but handled by Colgate goalkeeper Colin Prather.
In the first 10-minute overtime period, Colgate edged the Hawks 2-1 in shots but none of the three were on target. 'Wick outshot its host 3-1 in the final overtime. Roydhouse and Nick Pratico (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) put shots on the Colgate goal but both were denied by Prather, who ended the match with five stops.
The tie denies the Hawks their 38th victory over Colgate all-time. 'Wick now holds a 37-5-4 record over the Raiders.
The Hawks return home to Elmore on Saturday in a Mid-American Conference match with Florida Atlantic at noon. Last season the two teams tied 0-0 in Boca Raton, FL.
