Ithaca Women’s Hoop Team Downs Hartwick

ITHACA, NY – Ithaca led from start to finish in a 75-62 win over Hartwick's women's basketball team Friday night at Ben Light Gymnasium. The game was the Empire 8 Conference opener for both teams. With the victory, the Bombers improve to 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference. The Hawks slip to 2-4 and 0-1.
'Wick was led on the night by senior guard Lauren Ploof (Hammond, NY/Hammond) who scored 13 points. Fritzi Flores (Bergenfield, NJ/Paramus) added nine points for the Hawks and classmate Heather Pruchansky (Naples, FL/Community School of Naples) and freshman Jalicia Connell (Westbury, NY/Hicksville) each netted eight points. Krystle Crouse (Canajoharie, NY/Canajoharie) grabbed a team-best nine rebounds.
Ithaca was paced by Lindsay Brown's 15 points. Elissa Klie contributed 14 points and Katherine Bixby registered 12.
Ithaca shot 47% from the floor compared to the Hawks' 29% in the opening half to jump out to a 39-23 lead at the break. A 12-4 run midway through the second half would clip the Bomber lead to just 11 points with less than nine minutes left, but a 10-1 spurt over the next three minutes put the game away for IC.
Hartwick looks to even up its E8 record tomorrow at 2 p.m. as the Hawks battle Elmira at Speidel Gymnasium.
