Hawks Spilt to End Play at Elmira; Desmond Named All-Tournament

ELMIRA, NY - Hartwick College split its final two matches at the Elmira College Tournament on Saturday at Speidel Gymnasium. The Hawks needed four sets to down Alfred, 25-14, 25-15, 22-25, 25-19, and lost their final match versus Pitt-Bradford, 20-25, 19-25, 20-25.

Against the Saxons, Courtney Desmond (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Hendrick Hudson) had a tremendous effort with 15 kills, eight blocks and five service aces. Her efforts landed her on the all-tournament team. Shannon McGee (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas)  racked up a career-high 21 assists in the match, and Tori Beck (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) registered a career-best 22 digs. Lauren Mausert (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna), added 13 digs and Darcy Dolge (LaGrande, OR/LaGrande) notched nine kills and 11 assists.

In 'Wick's second match against the Pitt-Bradford Panthers, Mausert, Beck, and Brianna Eckert (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) combined for 43 digs in the match. Chelsea Jordan (Cobleskill, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) led the Hawks in kills with eight and McGee and Dolge also teamed up for 21 assists.

The Hawks are back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 15th against Oneonta State at Lambros Arena beginning at 6 p.m.
