Women’s Basketball Opens 2010 With Setback to Nazareth

          ONEONTA, NY – Nazareth, led by Rachel Pirozzolo's 14 points, earned a 65-54 victory over Hartwick in Empire 8 women's basketball on Saturday at Lambros Arena. The win is the Golden Flyers' 7th of the season and second in the Empire 8. Hartwick slips to 3-7 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
          Pirozzolo led a trio of Golden Flyers in doubles figures with Brittany Wilson contributing 12 points and Kelly Dunne notching 10. Wilson also added a game-high 10 rebounds. Kylie Bartlett netted eight points for Naz and Katie Kollar recorded seven.
          The Hawks were led by freshman Jalicia Connell's (Westbury, NY/Hicksville) game-high 19 points. She also tied a career-best with four three-point baskets. Senior guard Heather Pruchansky (Naples, FL/Community School of Naples) added 14 points for 'Wick and equaled a career-high with eight rebounds. Senior Lauren Ploof (Hammond, NY/Hammond) contributed 12 points for the Hawks.
          Hartwick returns to action tomorrow afternoon at 12 p.m. against visiting St. John Fisher. The Cardinals dropped their first conference game of the season today to Stevens by nine points (67-58).
