ONEONTA, NY - Lauren Mausert (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna), Kelly Sprengel (Cresskill, NJ/Cresskill), Courtney Desmond (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Hendrick Hudson) combined for 34 kills on Friday night but the Hartwick College women's volleyball team lost two matches at the Oneonta State Invitational. The Hawks lost to Keene State in three sets, 25-12, 25-12, 25-23, and RIT in three sets, 25-12, 25-18, 25-17.
Mausert notched seven kills and six digs against the Owls. Katie Ryan (Circleville, NY/Pine Bush) added five kills, and Christina Vitale (Port Jefferson Station, NY/St. John the Baptist) picked up eight digs.
Against Empire 8 Conference foe RIT, Sprengel registered nine kills to lead the Hawks. Mausert contributed six kills, and Desmond had five. Mickey Coons (Cornwall, NY/Cornwall) earned a team-best 11 digs, Mausert added nine, and Vitale recorded six. Britney Lintner (Ravena, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) and Brianna Eckert (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) each accumulated five digs.
The Hawks (4-14) play SUNYIT tomorrow at 9 a.m. and wrap up tournament play against the host Red Dragons at 1 p.m.
