ROCHESTER, NY - After 110 minutes, nothing was settled as the Hartwick College and St. John Fisher women's soccer teams battled this afternoon at Growney Stadium to a 0-0 draw. The tie keeps 'Wick unbeaten in the Empire 8 at 2-0-2 and the Hawks remain in third place in the conference standings. Fisher is now 2-8-2 overall and 0-3-1 in conference play.
The Cardinals out-shot Hartwick, 25-8 in the match, but keeper Alyssa Rondo (Saco, ME/Thornton Academy) made 11 saves for her third shutout and Hartwick's fifth clean sheet of the season.Fisher's Jessica Plukas made three saves between the pipes.
The Cardinals held an 11-3 edge in shots in the opening half. The Hawks took three corners to Fisher's one in the opening 45 minutes but could not generate a goal. Fisher held an 8-4 margin in the second half and out-shot the Hawks 6-1 in the extra 20 minutes of action.
Hartwick College hosts RIT in another Empire 8 battle, tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. The Tigers are 6-2-3 this season and 1-1-2 in the Empire 8.
