Volleyball Drops Pair to CCNY

LYCOMING, PA - Hartwick lost two matches to City College of New York on Saturday at the Lycoming Invitational in Lycoming, PA. The Hawks dropped the first match to the Beavers three sets to one, 18-25, 25-22, 19-25, 22-25. 'Wick lost in three in the second match, 17-25, 18-25, 23-25.

In the opening match of the day, junior Courtney Desmond (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Hendrick Hudson) continued to impress with 13 kills and five blocks. Lauren Mausert (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) contributed eight kills and a match-high 19 digs. Christina Vitale (Port Jefferson Station, NY/St. John the Baptist) picked up 10 digs and Shannon McGee (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) notched a season-best 26 assists.

Dalliana Toussaint (16), Kathleen Ryan (14), and Melissa Blass (13) combined for 43 of 54 Beaver kills in the match.

In the second match, Blass and Toussaint each had 12 kills and Zuleyka Polanco added 10 as the Beavers won in three. Rebecca Donahoe (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) registered a team-high six kills for Hartwick. Mausert added 10 digs and McGee dished another 21 assists.

Desmond was selected to the Lycoming Invitational All-Tournament Team at the day's end. She recorded 43 kills and hit .340 on the weekend. She added 16 blocks, four aces and three digs to pace 'Wick.

Hartwick hosts Cazenovia in its "Dig Pink" match on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
