Hawks Topple Cobleskill in Five-Set Comeback to Cap 2010 Season

COBLESKILL, NY - Hartwick volleyball ended the 2010 season on a high note on Tuesday night, defeating Cobleskill in five sets. The Hawks fought off a raucous crowd on senior night and two Fighting Tiger match points in the victory. The win ends Hartwick's season with a final record of 8-27. Final scores per set were 24-26, 25-18, 25-27, 25-20, 16-14.

Junior Lauren Mausert (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) and sophomore Shannon McGee (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) led Hartwick with double-doubles. Mausert registered a team-high 15 kills and added 13 digs and five aces. McGee notched 31 assists and 12 digs.

Junior Courtney Desmond (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Hendrick Hudson) added 14 kills and four blocks. Freshman Katie Ryan (Circleville, NY/Pine Bush) earned a team-high five blocks and contributed 11 kills.

Freshman Christina Vitale (Port Jefferson Station, NY/St. John the Baptist) recorded 29 of the Hawks' 81 digs. Freshmen Britney Lintner (Ravena, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) earned 21 assists and Kelly Sprengel (Cresskill, NJ/Cresskill) picked up nine kills for the Hawks.

Desmond, McGee, and Mausert each moved up in the Hawks' record books this season. Desmond, with 95 blocks this season, now has a total of 298 in three seasons. She jumps up to third in Hartick history. She also has 737 career kills ranking 7th. McGee registered 393 assists this year to improve to 7th all-time with 683. Mausert registered 45 aces for 152 in her career to rank 8th all-time.
