Women’s Basketball Downed at Home by Ithaca

         ONEONTA, NY – Ithaca stayed unbeaten in the Empire 8 Conference with a 73-38 victory over Hartwick's women's basketball team on Friday night at Lambros Arena. The Bombers led from start to finish and improve to 19-4 overall and 14-0 in the conference. The Hawks, who had a cold night shooting the basketball, drop to 6-15 and 4-9 in the E8.
          The Hawks received a team-high 14 points from senior guard Lauren Ploof (Hammond, NY/Hammond). She added three assists and two steals. Junior guard Fritzi Flores (Bergenfield, NJ/Paramus Catholic) added eight points, a game-high 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals, and freshman Jordan Nichols (Bloomville, NY/South Seneca) equaled a career-best with seven points.
          IC had 12 players make their way into the scoring column led by Elissa Klie's 15 points. Jordan Confessore added 11 points and six rebounds. Jessica Farley netted nine points, pulled down six boards, and distributed out six assists.
          The Bombers, who shot 50% (31-of-62) from the field as a team on the night, led by just a 15-10 margin with 11 and a half minutes to play in the opening half. A 26-6 run, however, to close the half would hand them a 41-16 lead at the break. IC shot made 11 of 20 shots in the span. The Hawks, who hit only 12-of-60 (20%) from the floor, made just 3-of-18 over the final 11 and a half minutes of the opening stanza. In the second half, the Ithaca lead quickly grew to 30 and the visitors never led by less than that amount over the final 17 minutes.
          Hartwick returns to Lambros Sunday afternoon. The Hawks will entertain Stevens Institute of Technology beginning at 2 p.m.
