ONEONTA, NY - Hartwick College earned its first win of the season this afternoon against visiting Delaware Valley by a final score of 1-0 to take second place in the 7th annual Erinn K. Brozman Memorial Cup. Marywood, a 4-0 winner over Utica earlier in the day, captured its third Brozman Cup title in the last four seasons.
The Hawks scored in the 64th minute of the game to secure the victory over the Aggies. The Hawks and DVC played to a scoreless draw in the 1st half of play, but the Aggies held a decisive territorial advantage and out-shot the Hawks 10-1 in the stanza.
The Hawks upped the intensity in the second half and broke through with 25:39 left to go as junior Alexandra Luke (Eagle Bridge, NY/Hoosick Falls) played a ball from the corner of the 18-yard box to sophomore Carly Pine (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls) on the right sideline. Pine then served a perfect ball into the box to sophomore Emily Thorndike (Dover, MA/Dover Sherborn) whose far-post header beat Aggie keeper Julie Burnell.
The Hawks would out-shoot Delaware Valley 3-2 over the next 19 minutes before the Aggies had their best chance with six minutes remaining. Sam Loeber (Sicklerville, NJ/Washington Township) walked right in on Hawk keeper Alyssa Rondo (Saco, ME/Thornton Academy) after she took advantage of a Hartwick miscommunication in the box, but her shot was fired high.
Rondo, who finished the match with six saves, recorded her first shutout of the season and second of her career.
In the first game of the day, Marywood (2-1) controlled the flow of the game from the start and cruised to the win over the Pioneers. The Pacers scored their first goal in the 35th minute when freshman Erin Jones (Vestal, NY/Seton Catholic Central) carried the ball out of Marywood territory and crossed to the center of the 18 to Olivia Habicht (Woodcliff Lake, NJ/ Pascack Hills). Habicht lightly flicked the ball to Siobhan Blancaflor (Haddam, CT/Haddam-Killingworth) who made no mistake and blasted it past Utica keeper Jocelyn Rivera (Yonkers, NY/Gorton) for a 1-0 lead.
Tayler Simmons (Hopewell Jct.,NY/John Jay E. Fishkill) broke through Utica's defense and blasted a rocket into the back of the net for the Pacers' second tally. Shannon Hresko (Gibbstown, NJ/Paulsboro) earned the assist on the play.

With three minutes remaining, junior Kaitlyn Hresko (Gibbstown, NJ/ Paulsboro) chipped in the Pacers' third goal from just outside the 18, and freshman Emma Nye (Keene, NY/Keene Central) scored her first collegiate goal as she carried the ball from the 50 yard line converting a breakaway.
