PITTSFORD, NY- The women's volleyball team squared off against conference foe Elmira at the Empire 8 Crossover hosted by St. John Fisher and were defeated by the Soaring Eagles 3-1 (17-25, 17-25, 25-23, 20-25) on Friday night. Elmira improves their record to 19-5 overall and 5-0 in the Empire 8 as Hartwick falls to 12-17 overall and 2-3 in the Empire 8.
Lauren Mausert (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) had a double-double for the Hawks as she racked up 11 kills and 13 digs. It was her third straight double-double and fifth of the season. Britney Lintner (Ravena, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) was one dig short of a double-double as she had a team-high 17 assists and nine digs. Brianna Eckert (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) led the way in digs with 19. Shannon McGee (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) contributed 12 assists. Courtney Desmond (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Hendrick Hudson) made 10 total blocks and added seven kills.
Hartwick continues Empire 8 play tomorrow with a 10 a.m. match against Ithaca followed by a 3 p.m. match with Nazareth.
