Volleyball Swept at Empire 8 Crossover

PITTSFORD, NY- The women's volleyball team continued play at the Empire 8 Crossover hosted by St. John Fisher College and fell to both Ithaca and Nazareth on Saturday afternoon.

The Hawks lost the morning match to Ithaca 3-1 (25-13, 13-25, 13-25, 15-25). Shannon McGee (Corlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) had a double-double with 14 assists and 13 digs. Brianna Eckert (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) had a team-high 15 digs. Christina Vitale (Port Jefferson Station, NY/St. John the Baptist) chipped in 11 digs. Lauren Mausert (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) led in kills with 10. Courtney Desmond (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Hendrick Hudson) earned eight kills and had 14 total blocks. Rebecca Donahoe (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) had six assisted blocks.

Hartwick fell in the afternoon match to Nazareth 3-0 (18-25, 20-25, 23-25). Mausert was a kill short of a double as she contributed nine kills and 10 digs. Eckert led the way with 14 digs. McGee picked up 15 assists. Desmond made five kills and blocked eight shots.

Hartwick will play its final home match of the season next Friday when they host cross-town rival SUNY Oneonta in the annual Presidents' Match at 7 p.m. in Lambros Arena.
