Hartwick Volleyball Team Defeats Alfred at Empire 8 Crossover

ELMIRA, NY - The Hartwick volleyball team wrapped up competition at the Empire 8 Crossover hosted by Elmira College and came away with a split on Sunday afternoon.

In the second match of the day, Hartwick defeated Alfred 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-18). Lauren Mausert (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) was the team leader in kills with seven. Shannon McGee (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) contributed nine assists. Brianna Eckert (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) had 10 digs and Courtney Desmond Cortlandt Manor, NY/Hendrick Hudson) made three blocks.

The Hawks took on Stevens in their first match of the day and fell by the score of 3-1 (19-25, 25-18, 18-25, 14-25). Eckert led the team in digs with 12. Mausert contributed eight digs and also had nine kills. Dana Martin (Chester, NY/Burke Catholic) chipped in eight kills. Britney Lintner (Ravena, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) had 14 assists and six digs while McGee had 16 assists and six digs. Desmond made five blocks on defense.

Hartwick (6-11) returns home to face SUNY Cobleskill Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at Lambros Arena.
