Swimming and Diving Teams Sweep Skidmore

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY- The men's and women's swimming and diving teams both picked up victories as they defeated Skidmore on Sunday afternoon. The men won 192-97 and the women won by the score of 170-103.

The men stay perfect with a record 14-0 and the women are now 12-2. The women have now won 12 dual meets for just the second time in program history. Their win also gave head coach Dale Rothenberger his 200th victory as coach of the women's team.

Kenny Kleso (Milford, PA) and Kris Sanders (Tillonsburg, ONT) both picked up two wins on the day. Kleso won the 200 free (1:47.45) and 100 fly (57.05), while Sanders claimed the 100 breast (1:06.41) and the 200 breast (2:23.45). For Sanders, it was the first two wins of his collegiate career.

Eight other Hawks won individual events. Joshua McNorton (Sanford, NC), Brad Ranson (Pennington, NJ), Nick Kirkpatrick (Saratoga Springs, NY), Lydon Schultz (Mount Pleasant, SC), Kaird Durocher (Bethlehem, PA), Eric Moore (Sioux Falls, SD), Miles Blaney (New York, NY), and Chris Willcox (Dresher, PA) all came in first in their respective races.

McNorton was first in the 1000 free (10:26.91), Ranson took the 100 back (57.29), Kirkpatrick won his first collegiate race with a victory in the 200 fly (2:05.89), and Schultz claimed the 50 free (22.61). Durocher was victorious in the 100 free (51.01), Moore won the 200 back (2:03.17), Blaney touched the wall first in the 500 free (4:52.60), and Willcox picked up the win in the 400 IM (4:25.66).

The 200 medley relay team of Cody Cupit (Nacogdoches, TX), John Wojtech (Bremerton, WA), Blaney, and Schulz came in first with a time of 1:40.67. The 200 free relay squad of Wojtech, Blaney, Ranson, and Schultz won in 1:31.34.

For the women, Stephanie Ha (Everett, WA) won three events to lead the team. She won the 100 back (1:02.99), 200 back (2:14.70) and 100 fly (1:01.31). Clare Nelson (South Hadley, MA) and Justine Woodend (Visalia, CA) both picked up two wins on the day. Nelson took the 100 breast (1:13.02) and the 200 breast (2:34.52). Woodend claimed victory in the 50 free (25.62) and the 100 free (56.45).

Other winners for Hartwick were Erin Holladay (Everett, WA), Aylin Canpolat (Hewlett, NY), Gwen Mathias (Sunland, CA), and Kaitlyn Campbell (Hanover Park, IL). Holladay was the winner of the 200 free (2:02.83) and Canpolat took the 200 fly with a time of 2:27.76. Mathias was victorious in the 400 IM (4:48.87)with Campbell winning the 500 free (5:30.66).

The 200 medley relay team of Maddy Quick (Jaffrey, NH), Nelson, Ha, and Woodend won in a time of 1:56.55. The 200 free relay team of Woodend, Quick, Sarah Uminski (Falmouth, ME), and Nelson came in first in a time of 1:45.89.

Lindsay Bowker (Bothell, WA) won both the one-meter and three-meter diving events. She had scores of 198.10 and 218.55, respectively.

Both Hartwick teams return to Moyer Pool next Saturday at 1 p.m. for meets with St. Lawrence. The day will serve as Hartwick's Senior Recognition and Parent Appreciation Day as the two programs will honor their nine seniors and their families prior to the meets.
