ONEONTA, NY- The Hartwick men's and women's swimming and diving teams swam in their final home meet of the season on Saturday afternoon at Moyer Pool. In addition, five seniors from the women's team and four seniors from the men's team were honored before competition.
The men defeated St. Lawrence 171.5-71.5 and SUNY Oneonta 147.5-92.5 to remain undefeated at 16-0. Michael Phillips (Austin, TX) won two races to lead the Hawks. He won both the 400 IM (4:15.52) and the 100 breast (1:01.55).
Seven other Hawks won their own respective races. Brad Ranson (Pennington, NJ), Lydon Schultz (Mount Pleasant, SC), Miles Blaney (New York, NY), Cody Cupit (Nacogdoches, TX), Kenny Kleso (Milford, PA), Luke Grunewald (New Windsor, NY), and Chris Willcox (Dresher, PA) all came in first in their respective races.
Ranson took the 100 free (48.90), Schultz claimed the 50 free (22.02), Blaney touched the wall first in the 200 free (1:46.38), Cupit was victorious in the 100 back (53.85), Kleso won the 500 free (4:48.74), Greenwald picked up the victory in the 1000 free (9:57.51) and Willcox picked up the win in te 100 fly (54.52).
The 200 medley relay team of Cupit, Kleso, Wilcox, and Schultz won with a time of 1:38.97. The 200 free relay squad of Ranson, John Wojtech (Bremerton, WA), Cupit, and Schultz were first in 1:29.36.
Joshua Morey (Gloversville, NY) won the one-meter dive with a score of 296.30 against the Saints but lost to the Red Dragons' Jermaine Miller. His score of 245.80 in the three-meter was best against both teams.
The women were victorious over the Saints 156-85 and 147.5-92.5 over the Red Dragons. For the women, Stephanie Ha (Everett, WA), Gwen Mathias (Sunland, CA), and Justine Woodend (Visalia, CA) all won two races each. Ha won the 100 back (1:02.99) and the 100 fly (1:00.67), Mathias was a winner in the 1000 free (11:11.59), and the 500 free (5:24.80), and Woodend touched the wall first in the 100 free (55.32), and the 50 free (25.32).
Other winners on the day included Kaitlyn Campbell (Hanover Park, IL), Clare Nelson (South Hadley, MA), and Erin Holladay (Everett, WA). Campbell claimed the 200 free (2:00.47), Nelson was first in the 100 breast (1:11.66) and Holladay won the 400 IM (4:46.09).
The 200 medley relay quartet of Maddy Quick (Jaffrey, NH), Nelson, Ha, and Woodend were winners with a time of 1:55.22. The 200 free relay team of Quick, Holladay, Sarah Uminski (Falmouth, ME), and Campbell won in a time of 1:45.56.
Lindsey Bowker (Bothell, WA) won both the one and three-meter dives with scores of 207.40 and 238, respectively.
Both teams will complete their regular season next Saturday when they face Empire 8 rival and nationally ranked Stevens Institute in Hoboken, NJ. Meet time is set for 1 p.m.
