Hartwick Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Teams Defeat Cazenovia and College of St. Rose

Gwen Mathias won two events on the afternoon
ONEONTA, NY- The men's and women's swimming and diving teams both turned in impressive performances as the two squads defeated both Cazenovia and the College of St. Rose on Saturday afternoon at Moyer Pool.
 
The men defeated the Wildcats 161-39 and the Golden Knights 145-87. Brad Ranson (Pennington, NJ/Hopewell Valley) and Miles Blaney (New York, NY/NYC Lab School) both picked up two wins each on the afternoon. Ranson won the 200 free (1:46.89) and the 100 free (48.31) events. Blaney took first in the 500 free (4:52) and the 200 IM (2:01.59).
 
Other winners on the day included Lydon Schultz (Mt. Pleasant, SC/Bishop England) in the 50 free (22.42), Chris Willcox (Dresher, PA/Upper Dublin) in the 100 fly (54.90), Jeremy Torres (Poulsbo, WA/Central Kitsap High) in the 100 breast (1:03.04) and Luke Grunewald (New Windsor, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) in the 1000 free (10:05.05).
 
The 200 medley relay team of Cody Cupit (Nacogdoches, TX/Nacogdoches), Kleso, Ranson, and Schultz came in first place with a time of 1:38.03. The 200 free relay team of Evan DeGidio (Jacksonville, FL/Episcopal School), Matt Behn (Windsor, NY/Windsor Central), Cory Perez (Miami FL/John A. Ferguson), and Blaney were first in a time of 1:30.97.
 
The women won over the Wildcats 169-29 and over the Golden Knights 138-82. Gwen Mathias (Sunland, CA/Southwestern Academy), Jade Woodend (Visalia, CA/Mayfield), and Kaitlyn Campbell (Hanover Park, IL/Glenhard North) all won two races each for Hartwick. Mathias claimed first in the 500 free (5:21.46) and the 1000 free (11:12.85). Woodend won the 50 free (25.20) and the 100 fly (1:02.38). Campbell was victorious in the 100 free (55.58) and the 200 free (2:00.34).
 
Imma Rutigliano (Tillson, NY/John A. Coleman) won her first individual collegiate event with a victory in the 100 back in a time of 1:03.74.
 
The 200 free relay team of Campbell, Rutligiano, Dana Vinyard (Willowbrook, IL/Hinsdale South), and Erin Holladay (Everett, WA/Henry M. Jackson) came in first in a time of 1:46.29.
 
Lindsay Bowker (Bothell, WA) won the one and three meter dives with scores of 201.70 and 208.70, respectively.
 
Both teams will return to action next Saturday when they will face Utica on the road at 1 p.m.
