UTICA, NY- The Hartwick women's volleyball team returned to Empire 8 competition on Saturday afternoon and defeated host Utica 3-0 (25-17, 25-13 ,26-24). The Hawks, winners of five of their last six matches, improve their record to 10-14 overall and 2-3 in the Empire 8. The Pioneers fall to 7-19 overall and 1-5 in the Empire 8.
 
Dana Martin (Chester, NY/Burke Catholic) paced the Hawks as she had 11 kills and five digs. Hannah Strom (Kenmore, WA/Inglemoor) contributed 10 kills and a team-high eight digs. Britney Lintner (Ravena, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) chipped in 27 assists.
 
Hartwick resumes play tomorrow with two matches. The Hawks will face Nazareth at 10 a.m. followed by St. John Fisher at 12 p.m.
